Urban Oases: Frank Whittle Arch, Coventry

Commemorating the Coventry-born pioneer of the jet engine, this pair of wing-like structures swoops in towards the city centre from the Transport Museum. Stand on the spiralling bridge behind this ultra-modern structure, with the ancient spires of the war-devastated medieval city in the background, and the city’s heritage is symbolically juxtaposed with its future.
